Description:

McKinley CG-4 is a broad spectrum, liquid preservative system free of parabens, formaldehyde, and isothiazolinones. This preservative systems is Phenoxyethanol in an emollient base of caprylyl glycol. It is a clear liquid that has no pH restrictions and is safe for use at temperatures below 176 º. It is suggested for usage levels at 0.5-1.5 % and is best used in oil based products.

Applications:

McKinley CG-4 can be used in anhydrous formulations and emulsions: hair care and skin care formulas. It will offer protection against gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial, yeast and mold in conditioners, gels, mousses, novel styliers, shampoos, styling lotions/creams, body care, color cosmetics, face and body washes, facial care, and wipes

McKinley CG-4 is not heat sensitive & can be added directly to formulation with heat. This can cause some destabilizing in some emulsions so it is recommended to be added during POST-emulsification @/or below 37.7 ºC.

No pH restrictions and it compatible with most raw materials.

Not very water soluble and therefore not recommended for all water products.
